Ac. 1, 15-17.20a.20c -26 Ps.102 1 Jn.4,11-16 Jn.17,11b-19

7th Sunday of Easter, year ’C’

“I pray not only for these but also for those who through their teaching will come to believe in me.”

Ac.7,55-60 Ps.96 Ap.22,12-14.16-20 Jn.17,20-26

“I have given them the glory you gave to me, that they may be one as we are one. With me in them and you in me, may they be so perfect in unity that the world will recognise that it was you who sent me and that you have loved them as you have loved me.”

We receive from Jesus security given to us through the Holy Spirit, for we are in need of his prayer if we are to move forward in our earthly pilgrimage.

Let us ask God our Father to send us His Holy Spirit at Pentecost for the Word of God is particularly luminous. Le us pray so that we enter into this request. His Love is made manifest, is expressed and leads us to go further along.

It is a Love that comes to us so as to then flow towards its Source. For us, the meaning of things, relationships, is revealed in this movement of Love, in this unity of Love.

It is propagated, is revealed so that Love may rule.

With Mary, Jesus’ Mother, we make ourselves available so as to receive the Gift of God whom Jesus promised :

’I pray not only for these but also for those who through their teaching will come to believe in me."

It is already two thousand years ago that through the Imposition of hands we have been receiving the Holy Spirit who makes of us living members of Christ.

Jesus’ Church, to which we belong, draws its unity from Jesus to His Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit.

This unity in the Church comes about thanks to Jesus’ prayer : ’May all be one Father as you and I are One. May all be One in us.“”Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where i am, so that they may always see my glory which you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world."

This Word spoken by Jesus to his disciples just before His Passion became truly credible for us as the Pascal time spread out.

It became Incarnate, taking shape before our very eyes in the recitals of the primitive Church.

The Holy Spirit intervened in the Virgin Mary so that the mystery of the Incarnation of Jesus came about. She wove Him in her flesh in a unity of life and Love that is incredibly hard to understand how this came about.

The unity of Love comes about by the Holy Spirit, the same unity that is between the Father and the Son was found between the Mother and her Child.

This unity will never end, even in the most gruelling moments of Jesus’ passion.

’I want those you have given me to be with me where I am.’

After the Ascension we are called more and more to our present daily life wherever we are.

Through the Ascension and through the Assumption, Jesus, the New Adam, and Mary, the New Eve, are reunited in the Blessed Trinity.

’I want those you have given me to be with me where I am.’

We re waiting to join them in Heaven in the Holy Spirit.

’The Spirit and the bride say ’Come’. May the one who hears also say ’Come!’ Whoever is thirsty may he draw near.’

It is a question of the mystery of the unity of Love as it is brought about in God. It has to come about in each one of us.

"Father, Righteous One, the world ahs not known you but I have known you, and these have known that you have sent me.

I have made your name known tot hem and will continue to make it known,

So that the Love with which you loved me may be in them, and so that i may be in them."

This mystery of communion will not be brought about through nature, but through grace, the Gift of God will bring about what is said in the Word : ’I shall give them the glory you have given me.’

This glory Jesus demands is here, ever since the beginning of the world : ’You loved me even before the foundation of the world.’

Wherever we may be in today’s world, this Word can be incarnated within us and take on consistency.

Dwelling within our hearts this Love is in our attitudes, requiring of us to allow ourselves to be joined by it, to come together by it.

We only have to allow ourselves to be loved, to allow Love to act within us, amongst us, to forgive each other –then this newness becomes possible.

The story of the Good News can pass through us.

Jesus having clothed the human condition once more went down into the places of hell within us so as to liberate us fully from these evil forces.

Now, Jesus went back to the Father into Heaven with the human nature Mary wove Him.

’Father, give me the glory I had with you before the foundation of the world.’

In going to the Father, Jesus leads us in his Love : ’And I gave them the Glory you gave me."

We beg the Holy Spirit that we may come to live in the unity of the Infinite Love of God.

7th Sunday of Easter, year’ B’

Holy Father, keep those you have given me true to your name, so that thy may be one like us. While I was with them, I kept those you had given me true to your name. I have watched over them and not one is lost, except one who was destined to be lost, and tis was to fulfill the scriptures.but now I am coming to you and I say these things in the world to share my Joy with them to the full.“God has the desire to unify the whole of humanity within Himself and the Church invites us to enter into this vision of unity with God son that the world may believe that God is a mystery of Love and of unity. This unity is always on the increase. We find it in such an amazing and marvelous manner in theuniuon of the Hearts of Jesus and of Mary. When Jesus comes to consecrate the world in Truth, he brings about unity with human nature in a very personal and interior way : ’I believe in Jesus Christ, true God and true man.’ When the heart of the ’little Jesus’ is united with the heart of Mary his Mother, he then brings about a n amazing unity between divine nature and the human creature. In his Passion, Jesus will go down to the parts of hell within us, into our closing up on ourselves, so as to free us from the liar that wants to separate us from God, closing us up int death.”I passed our Word on to them, and the world hated them, because they belong to the world no more than I belong to the world"

Jesus went down into the bottom of our being so that we may open it up gradually to Him for

’God is Love.’

This Word is the summit of the Revelation. We know that this unity of humanity passes through each on of us, it passes through the lives of each one of us. It

passes through our own life, we are all concerned.Jesus’ prayer hastens this unity of our heart and of the Heart of God. ’Holy Father, keep my disciples in fidelity to my name so that they may be One as we are One.’ It is Jesus, the Beloved Son, who taught us God’s Name, this Name that is the Father’. We do indeed find our unity in this unity of Jesus and the Father.’ When I was with them, I kept them in fidelity to your name which you gave to me. I watched over each one of them and not one of them was lost.’

It is so good to know that Jesus is in Glory. He prays powerfully for us. jesus never stops watching over us : ’Not one of them is lost.’

“Consecrate them in the truth ; your Word is Truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into he world, and for their sake I consecrate myself so that they too may be consecrated in the truth.”

Now, o Father, says Jesus, I am coming to you, and I want them to have my Joy in you.Let us enter into the Joy of Jesus’ Love for his Father and of the Father for Jesus. It is a Mystery of the Holy Spirit, a Mystery of love which is proposed to us :’ If we love one another God dwells within us and his Love reaches its perfection in us.’ These words become life within us and this life is a gift from God.The Holy Spirit who makes up the unity between the Father and the Son unites our heart of a child of the Father, uniting our heart of a sinner to Jesus Our Saviour. We come to understand just how much we are in need of the Holy Spirit. The unity asked by Jesus can only be brought about by the Holy Spirit. We know that the world is in each one of us and that Jesus defends us from the Evil One.He consecrates Himself, underling the importance of being filled with God by ’dwelling in His Love.’ The source of the consecration is the fidelity to Jesus, He, the consecrated One : ’The consecration means that we wish to live from Jesus by giving our heart to Him and in giving Him complete confidence.Jesus leads us to realise his own Mystery , that of the beloved Child of the Father. He proposes to us the Holy Spirit and that we hasten his Coming in prayer.

Let us ask for the grace that the unity brought about between Him and the Father be brought about in our hearts and the Heart of God.
