FRIDAY of the FORTH WEEK of LENT
Sg. 2,1a.12-22 Ps.33 Jn. 7, 1-2 10 25-30
Friday 11th March 2016
Forth week of Lent, Friday
“As the Jewish Feast of Shelters drew near, his brothers said to him : ’ Leave this place and go to Judaea, so that your disciples, too, can see the works you are doing; no-one who wants to be publicly known acts in secret; if this is what you are doing you should reveal yourself to the world’. However, after his brothers had left for the festival, he went up as well, not publicly but secretly. Meanwhile, some of the people of Jerusalem were saying ’ Isn’t this the man they want to kill? and here he is, speaking openly, and they have nothing to say to him! Can it be true the authorities have recognized that he is the Christ? Yet we all know where he comes from, but when the Christ appears, no-one will know where he comes from.”
It is when Jesus is hunted down, detested, hated and condemned to death, looked for by the police that he turns towards the Father. He recognizes that he comes from the Father and that he feels truly loved by Him, by an infinite Love. Whereas they speak about putting him to death, Jesus speaks about his relationship with the Father, of this Love which fills his whole life. The opposition thinks only about what they know about the origins of Jesus, his human origins. We know where he comes from, they said : he is the son of Joseph, the Carpenter, Mary’s son! already in Nazareth Jesus did not perform any miracles because they did not believe in him. Jesus bears within him a mystery that no-one knows apart from his Mother. Upon Jesus rests the Power of the Holy Spirit, the Infinite Love of God, He is the beloved Son of the Father. His Mother, Mary, knows with what faith she had to give her yes to the One Sent from God.
“Then , as Jesus was teaching in the Temple he cried out, ’You know me and you know where I come from. Yet I have not come of my own accord : but he who sent me is true ; you do not know him, but I know him because I have my being from him and it was he who sent me.’”
You, you do not know me. I know him, because I come from him and it is He who sent me.“Those opposed to Jesus know where He comes from, but they do not grasp his Being.”Truly, you are a hidden God."
God hides Himself in the Son of man ’in the Bosom of the Father.’
Jesus was not engendered from blood, nor from will of the flesh, nor from will of man, but from God.’
he is unknown from all mortal gaze, impenetrable for any human intelligence, and yet God was made man in order to raise up human beings to their real dignity, by taking on their humanity. Jesus won’t deny that they know him just in appearance and that they know where he comes from on this earth.
He is the One in whom the Father and the Spirit dwell and who comes to give Life to us.
The opponents to Jesus are in state of total misunderstanding. It had already been announced by the prophet :
“Let’s see if his words are true, let’s see where he’ll end up. He says he is the Son of God, that God will come to his aid? Come on, let’s torment him, we’ll see if he is gentle or not.”
During trials we need to keep their eyes on Jesus! Jesus, who travelled throughout the whole of Galilee is besieged ,from all sides.
On the Cross he will say “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?” and again “I am sad, sad until death.” But he Father will say “You are my Beloved Son.” Jesus will come out of this trail victorious to give us God’s life and sustain us in the combat.
“They tried to take hold of him but no-one could put their hands on him because his time had not come.”
Peter, James and John saw the Transfigured Lord Jesus, for an instant Jesus raised the veil; an dyet Peter, as he was warming himself close to the fire after Jesus’ arrest, swore he didn’t know that man (Jesus). Jesus was left in the cold, made fun of, whilst Peter was warming himself.
Peter will always regard Jesus as being hidden in the world and he will give himself over to Jesus, to see him : ’Lord, you know all things, you know that I love you."
Our heart must be anchored in Him, in Gethsemane as at Tabor, waiting for nothing else but to live in His Presence in faith.
Despite this hatred that has no reason for it, Jesus will also give his life for those who had him put to death.
The tension increases, the conflict is turning into something dramatic, Jesus remains always turned towards the Father, sent by Him, one with Him in a deep Peace.
We, too, amongst out small difficulties stay united with Jesus, living with Him in the intimacy of the Father, completely lost and transformed in His Love and Affection
Moved by the Holy Spirit, Jesus will win the combat of death, of Light over darkness, he will dwell in his Father whatever happens. In this trial Mary will accompany her beloved Son.She is the maternal face filled with gentleness, given by the Father to sustain Jesus. Mary, John and some women will accompany him also, remaining with him in this trial. Mary is the little dove “hidden” in the opening in the rock, she will not move an inch, she will hold out in love. The opening in the rock is the Heart of Jesus.
We ask for the grace of humility to be at the service of the Tenderness and the Mercy of God.

May he always be the Source of our Joy, the source of our Happiness. It is the same lot reserved for Jesus’ friends who already have such little confidence in themselves! During trials they need to keep their eyes on Jesus! Jesus, who travelled throughout the whole of Galilee is besieged ,from all sides. On the Cross he will say” My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?“and again” I am sad, sad until death.“But he Father will say”You are my Beloved Son.“Jesus will come out of this trail victorious to give us God’s life and sustain us in the combat. For in this combat that we undergo we are not just faced with people on the outside, but it is also a combat coming from the inside , coming from our lack of faith.”They tried to take hold of him but no-one could put their hands on him because his time had not come.“The tension increases, the conflict is turning into something dramatic, Jesus remains ever turned towards the Father, sent by Him, one with Him in a deep Peace. Jesus knows when his time comes that the contestation that will come down upon him :” The Son of man will be rejected, battered, sworn at, in the end he will be killed but on the third day he will rise again“, he says. Soon the inhabitants of Jerusalem will cry out at him :”Put him to death! Crucify him!“Moved by the Holy Spirit, Jesus will win the combat of death, of Light over darkness, he will dwell in his Father whatever the circumstances :” It was our sins he bore, our sufferings and wounds drove him to the ground.“On the Cross Jesus will bear our on distress, but he knows he is loved by God and he dwells in the bosom of the Father.
